Brisbane Residents Discover 50+ July Events Across Suburbs

Brisbane's community events calendar lists 48 activities running between July 13 and July 26, according to the latest council update released on Friday.

The listings arrive as winter daylight hours shorten and families seek structured ways to spend weekends outdoors. City records show participation in council-run programs rose 18 percent between May and June this year.

Two venues anchor many of the listings. New Farm Park on Brunswick Street hosts the Sunday farmers market from 7am, with stalls from 35 local growers. The West End Community Centre on Boundary Street runs a free drop-in craft session every Thursday afternoon for residents aged over 55.

Market days and outdoor stalls

The New Farm market features produce from farms in the Lockyer Valley and baked goods from a bakery on James Street. Stallholders report average sales of $420 per vendor on a typical winter Sunday. Entry remains free, though parking on nearby streets fills by 8am.

West End organisers added a second-hand book exchange table this month after requests from regular attendees. The centre recorded 210 visitors during the first June session.

Workshops and indoor programs

A woodworking introduction course at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Lamington Street costs $25 and runs on July 19. The same venue offers a free ukulele group every Monday evening in the riverside studio. Both programs require advance booking through the city library portal.
